One-Room Sunday School

Our Sunday school program will continue throughout the summer.  Depending on the number of children who are present we’ll have either one or two classes.  Children join their parents in the sanctuary for the start of worship.  Following the children’s sermon they are dismissed into Bovee Hall for Sunday school.

Summer Schedule

June 6: Youth Sunday at 10am
June 13: Choir Sunday at 10am
June 20: Prayer and Communion at 8:30am (final service) and Traditional Worship at 10:00am
June 27: Traditional worship at 10am with guest preacher, Ximena Varas
July 5-Sept. 5: Worship begins at 9:30 on Sunday mornings.

Electricity Fundraiser

HUMC is now working with Discount Power as our energy generator.  If you would like to save money on the generation side of your energy bill please contact Pastor Tim.  UI or CL&P will continue to provide the service as well as the invoice.  Everything will remain the same except your bill.  It will go down.  You save money by signing up, and the church makes a little money when you list us as the broker.  Everybody wins!  Please email Pastor Tim at pastorhumc@sbcglobal.net.

Holy Week Services

Palm Sunday: March 28 (free breakfast at 9 am followed by worship at 10 am.  Easter egg hunt for children during the worship hour.)

Holy Thursday: April 1 (A service of healing at 7:30 pm centered around the sacrament of Communion in remembrance of the Last Supper.)

Good Friday: April 2 (A candlelight service at 7:30 pm of scriptures and choral music retelling the story of Christ’s passion.)

Prayer Vigil: April 2 (Enjoy quiet meditation between 9 pm and midnight.  Soft music, candles, and prayer suggestions will be provided.)

Easter Sunday: April 4 (Join us at 10 am in celebration of Christ’s victory over the cross.  A special coffee hour will follow.)

Breakfast on Palm Sunday

Join us for breakfast at 9am on March 28 before our worship service.  Whether you are a member, a guest, a friend, or a visitor you are welcome.  There’s no charge, but you are free to give an offering if you wish.  (Please note that we’ll have just one service on the 28th, which will begin at 10am.)

Mardi Gras Murder Mystery

All are welcome to this night of family fun and fellowship on Sunday, Feb. 7 from 4pm-6pm.  (You’ll be home in time for the Superbowl.)  Pancakes, sausage, fruit, and King Cake are for dinner.  There will be a craft table for the children. Each table will test their detective skills to see who killed off Pastor Tim and why.  Tickets are $10 per adult, $5 per child and $30 maximum per family.  Call the church office if you have any questions.  203-929-5545
