About

A word from Pastor Tim…

HUMC is a church that is growing in numbers, spirit, and faith. One of our greatest gifts is our sense of community. Almost every member, it seems, is able to speak of a time of hardship or need in which fellow members offered love and support in ways that have left a lasting impression. Though certainly not a hardship, the births of my two children come to mind. The love and thoughtfulness with which my wife and I were showered was a wonderful gift to us as we transitioned into the unchartered waters of parenthood… and then did it again!

Another joy that we get to celebrate at HUMC is the intergenerational make-up of our congregation. We have a real healthy mix of retirees, working families, and young people. Children’s sermons are a highlight for all of us. With about 30 little ones coming forward each morning there’s always an element of surprise to that part of our worship! In addition to a thriving Sunday School program we are thankful to have a group of youth which gathers enthusiastically on most Sunday evenings during the school year. With four committed adult leaders the youth group continues to build momentum as we gather for fun and fellowship, spiritual growth, and service.

An emerging ministry that I’m particularly excited about is our small group program. We gather in a home every other week in groups of 6-14 people for what feels like a party with a deeper purpose. One participant called it, “youth group for adults.” The format is simple: we begin with a time for mingling and catching up, we listen to a sermon from a prominent preacher, we share our thoughts, and then we pray together. It’s amazing how God seems to grow bigger and bigger in our lives as we spend this quality time with one another.Of course, there is much more to talk about.

We offer many opportunities to get involved, to grow, to serve, to have fun, and to develop meaningful relationships. I invite you to take some time with our website. look around; get to know us. However, there is no substitute for a living encounter. Come and join us for worship and fellowship on a Sunday morning. We have a very intimate though informal service of prayer and communion at 8:30 a.m. and then a traditional service of worship with choral and often special music at 10 a.m. (The schedule changes in July and August.)  Children are invited to Sunday School during the traditional service, and all generally look forward to a time for fellowship, coffee, and goodies to follow.Hope to see you soon.Blessings,Pastor Tim
